New page

In vanilla Mario Kart Wii, Dry Bones' voice lines are sequenced using various audios for each voiceline. Some of these sequences use random parameters in order to shift the pitch and make the sounds more dynamic. This makes it painful for custom character authors to use custom voicelines for the character.

The solution
I decided to do the arduous task of compiling a custom revo_kart.brsar that separates Dry Bones' voicelines in more convenient single audio instances, similar to how they are in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. You can download the custom revo_kart.brsar by clicking here.

Modified sub-files
Both the selection screen and in-race BRBNKs have been modified.

+ Selection screen ([637] GRP)
Group[26] has been added.
3 audios for Dry Bones' selection have been added: Audio[143], Audio[144] and Audio[145].

+ In-race sounds ([488] GRP)
Group[0] and Group[0] are untouched (these correspond to the FAL and FAL_W sounds).
The audios can be identified by the InstParams ID from the following table:
InstParams ID !! Label

One thing to keep in mind is that Dry Bones does not have separate voicelines for winning or losing, since there's no code reference for them. Instead, it reuses some other voicelines.

Feel free to use my custom BRSAR or any of the modified sub-files in your mods, although giving me credit would be appreciated if doing so.

Future plans for other characters
Other characters such as Dry Bowser, King Boo and Koopa Troopa also use sequenced audios in the original game. I might make a new version that includes separate audios for these in the future.
